    Come on Goa!! We have to win this tournament. All the best!!! <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

    Goa have no chance. Manipur already beat them 3-0, and Odisha/Orissa is at a similar level to Manipur.

    It does not matter who is strong who is weak. I'll support Goa. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

    I got confirmation today from the IFA in Bengal

    The results from their earlier 2 quarter-final matches were:
    West Bengal 6-1 Kerala
    West Bengal 4-0 Haryana

    I've updated the state ranking to include all the games up to the semi-finals:

    It seems Goa is catching up on West Bengal in 3rd place. Manipur and Odisha are still very far ahead in 1st and 2nd.

    Will you please explain the points system?

    Yes, no problem. I will give a simplified explanation below.

    The points system is an average of 2 parts.

    Part 1 - is like the ELO system (an explanation of this system can be found here - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.eloratings.net/system.html">http://www.eloratings.net/system.html</a><!-- m -->) - it includes all matches played by each team, but more recent matches have more influence.

    Part 2 - is a form-based system, based only on the last 10 matches. So, for example, a difference of 200 points is roughly the same as a difference of 2 goals in a match. If Team A is 300 points ahead of Team B, you can predict that Team A should beat Team B by 3 goals.

    The ranking points from both parts are added together, and the result is divided by 2 to arrive at the final points total you see in the ranking.

    There's a full explanation of my system here: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://roonba.com/ranksys.html">http://roonba.com/ranksys.html</a><!-- m -->

    I'm working on a cricket ranking at the moment - but cricket is a bit more complicated to do...

    Orissa won 4-1 against Goa.

    That means the Finals of the !9th Senior Nationals will be played between
    Orissa and West Bengal.

    (just a reminder that these two teams have also played in the quater league pool and the score was 4-0 Orissa won)

    Fact: Goa is the only team that has scored against Orissa.
    Orissa had not conceded any goal prior to this semi final match.
