Moving that discussion from Online Chatting to Food thread.
I am from Rajasthan. We call it Chawal.
But
basically we eat Dal-Roti. Rice is not common in our food. Probably
once a week, even once in two weeks people cook rice. It is always Roti,
Roti and more Roti.
If they make Rice, it is Kadhi-Chawal, Rajma -Chawal or Khichdi.
Comments
@sam, my favourite during winter and rainy season. Replace dim bhaja with Hilsa fry (especially on non-derby days ).
Roti is the staple diet in the West, central and northern India.
In Bengal, roti has replaced rice as the staple food in many household nowadays...rice is the preferred food only at lunch time.
However, I am a total sucker for rice...I can eat it four times a day
