Vision India to start anew

Kuala Lumpur : All India Football Federation (AIFF) has planned to restart the AFC Vision Asia – Vision India development programme with a new strategy in the country.

AIFF’s Vision India Director Tathagata Mukherjee is confident that the realistically achievable new strategy will sustain the planned renewed Vision Asia project.

He told the-afc.com: “The AIFF is very keen to restart the programme. We are exploring all possible ways to do so and also feel that a new format could probably help us achieve a sustainable project.

“It is very important to have a sustainable project, otherwise the project will die a natural death which we really don’t want,” he said.

Two Vision India city projects in Delhi and Tamil Nadu were removed by the AFC in May last year while two more projects in Goa and West Bengal are currently inactive. Another project in Kerala has yet to take the next step after adopting the recommended statutes.

Mukherjee feels the existing formats are a challenge from an Indian point of view and explains the new ‘mix-and-match’ plan.

“India is a huge country and it has many different countries in the form of states which have their own food habits, languages and cultures. In this scenario, what works in one state may not work in another. Therefore, our plan for the renewed Vision India is to mix and match the strategies which are specific to each region to create the larger strategy for Vision India.

“Therefore the next steps would be for the AIFF to create an internal strategy for the new format and would like to emphasise that the onus lies on us. This strategy will of course consider various factors after which the AIFF will present this to the AFC and discuss the way forward.

“At the end of the day, what we want is to have a Vision programme which will contribute significantly to the development of Indian Football at an accelerated rate,” elaborated the AIFF’s National Teams Director.

Mukherjee is confident that the new plan is worthwhile considering the benefits to be reaped from the renewed project.

“At the end of it all, we at the AIFF are very keen and very serious to restart Vision India because we know the benefits and results it can produce.

“We are very confident that with a new strategy which is realistically achievable, Vision India can be a sustainable and successful project.”

they are not confused i would say. it is true in different states they have to tackle it differently but i would have preffered they had not said so infront of the international media as it makes us feel at first we are bengali, bihari etc then we are indian.

Developing Football in India is the most difficult task,as our Vision India director says those earlier criteria were way too much for states.

Even the new one might fail as I don't see much hope in State FA administrators.

If you approach a problem with a negative mindset, you are bound to fail.

AIFF nominates five cities for VA

Kuala Lumpur: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has nominated five cities to the AFC to restart its Vision Asia programme focusing on projects at the district or city level.

In a letter dated April 20, the AIFF said it had carefully analysed the various options to start Vision India at the said level which will suit the needs of Indian football.

The AIFF said: “After doing a SWOT analysis, we are keen and confident that Vision India can be successful in three centres – Mumbai, Pune and Chandigarh.

“Apart from the three centres, we also feel that Aizawl (Mizoram) and Cochin (Kerala) are important centres where Vision India can bring significant change to local football which will ultimately suit the needs of Indian football.

“The above five centres will however need to be ratified by the AIFF Executive Committee meeting which will happen by the middle of next month.”

In its reply, the AFC welcomed the change of direction of the AIFF to start implementing Vision India at the district or city level instead of the state level as in the past.

“In order for the AFC to proceed with the proposed projects, we shall wait for the official confirmation of the ratification by the AIFF Exco, as indicated.

“We look forward to welcoming the five centres into the family of Vision Asia,” the AFC said.

Being here in Mumbai, I can tell you that Mumbai and Pune are the worst choices to develop football. Kolhapur has more potential and the other city could be somewhere in NE
