The classic 4-3-2-1 formation was mainly used as a defensive strategy. But over the last decade, we have seen a lot of modified versions of this very formation, being used by all the leading coaches over the world. And this modifications have added the attacking edge to this form of play.
The modifications include a marksman; a heavily structured poacher as the lone forward, wingers who can cut in from the sides, and fast moving wing backs who can send in the crosses into the box.
Now, analysing Morgan's 4-2-3-1,
1) Rafique, is never the appropriate candidate to play the lone forward. Period.
2) Jacki was played on the left so that he could cut in; but he kept on trying crosses with his less preferred foot.
3) Pujari surely has a lot of to improve. He needs to work on his runs with the ball; and most importantly his confidence. He too failed to cut in from the right.
4) Bheke and Das made the necessary overlapping runs but failed to put in the crosses. The wingers need to pull the opponent wingbacks inside so the Bheke and Das can get the necessary spaces to run into.
5) Borges is a deep-lying playmaker. For him to function properly, he needs to get the defensive support from the screen (Mehtab) and attacking support from the wingers and wing backs. There were never a proper link among any of them.
Plaza is here to stay. Wedson needs to speed up his movement. We desperately need Arnab. And finally, Morgan desperately needs to sort out his wingers, with Dika, Ruidas, Romeo and Jairu at his disposal he could have taken a better decision than making Borges as a makeshift winger in the latter stages of the match.
Poor telecast by Ten 2 ,they are not even showing rapid replays ,even for goals, what's wrong with them if they are not interested in I league ,why the hell they keep taking rights for it
One thing I will say is a lot, lot better than ISL production and broadcasting is the commentary. Say whatever you want about Novy and company but at least he actually talks about the game and knows who some of the Indian players are. During the Indian Super League you have some failed Premier League commentators who don't know shit about Indian football who talk to 90 minutes about how India is improving and the ISL is great or about Sachin Tendulkar or Ranbir Kapoor or something. Whenever an Indian is on the ball they barely even say, they don't follow the play or commentate on it and really only know the foreigners (the big ones).

So ya, this is a lot better.
