Well I am not sure about that. Hume will be interesting. He only scored 5 goals during the regular season last year and will be 34 this season and the season will be longer this time and more stretched so form won't have that much of an impact. Won't surprise me to see his ISL stats slow down.
In short season,players like Berbatov might have been ineffective, as not only the humid conditions but matches on almost every other day would have led to fatigue and injuries. But with a longer season,I can see them perform because there will be enough recovery time before every match.
No one is saying he won't perform. Even I think he will have no problem getting to the 5-10 goal range. The criticism is coming from the fact that Kerala Blasters could have signed someone for a lot cheaper and who is younger and get the same results... instead of spending what is now reported to be over 5 crore!
This is a team that finished in last in 2015 and managed to still have packed houses every match and this is also only the ISL... now a league which will have 6 Indians on the pitch and less foreigners overall in the squad. You don't need a Berbatov to win the ISL. It is wasted money that could be better put to use on the 2-3 players or even youth development.
This money has got nothing to do with rest squad as it's outside the budget but agree with arsenalfan700 . This money could have been used in better way .
Such signings will help in other ways like I mentioned the case of chennaiyin FC new guy and many other examples .

They are not showing any interest about these signing. I didn't want this type of signing which has no future. For a season which has only 18 matches its a huge deal. When Del Piero signed for Delhi Dynamos the same western media made a huge noise, Lots of people was talked about this. Would you saw then a huge crowed gathered in the Nehru Stadium to watch him live. The clubs needs to behave in a mature way. The Initial honeymoon period of ISL over. And ISL is no more an amateur league now. Clubs to think about their profit as well. What happen with I League clubs we experienced that.
