The 2017–18 Indian Super League season will be the fourth season of ISL the football league, since its establishment in 2014


Two new sides will join the league as expansion franchises: Bengaluru FC and an unnamed side from Jamshedpur . The two new clubs will be the ninth and tenth teams in the league. This makes this the first edition of the ISL in which their will be more than eight teams participating.As well as expanding two teams, the league will also expand two more months, being played in five months instead of three.

Swashbuckling West Indian opener Chris Gayle today showed interest in owning an ISL-type team and said he is in discussions with few stakeholders for some commercial ventures.

Comparing the Indian top div with that of Spain,Germany, Italy is laughable.. We need to have better coach education programmes than Indian coaches in top div. Good local coaches & scouts in the grassroot level is what takes the countries forward. Top div coaches are irrelevant in the football ecosystem. Doesn't matter whether they are foreign or Indian. What's important is to look for a coach which helps the national team's style

I believe Khalid Jamil is 100 times better coach then someone like Teddy. but due to ISL he will never get to chance to showcase his coaching talent.

But why aren't Indian coaches allowed manage Teams in the ISL

Someone like Jamil,Singhto would certainly be a better choice compared to John Gregory etc 

Just don't understand why random marquees are preferred 

ISL is probably only league in Asia which doesn't allow locals to manage Teams

ISL sometimes goes over the top with stupid stuffs 
Red carpet entrance crackers when opponents score against home teams 
Celebrity owners etc 

Neither Kabbadi nor IPL got famous due to it 
Despite having celebrity involvement the sports is what made those leagues instant hit 

News like Chris Gayle etc is absolutely stupid

Even Pradhyum Reddy is better than some of the first team coaches in ISL.

@BrainFallINDIA John Abraham got inspired from Ranjit Bajaj and will coach NEUFC himself.

John Gregory had one successful stints long long ago with Aston Villa
He failed at most of his stints abroad 
Last managed a 4th division side 
Still gets accepted as Head coach
While likes of Westwood,Jamil,Singto,Derrick can only be assistants or TD

Don't see anything developmental here
