Adil Khan has been among the star performers this season for FC Pune City, who are keen to make amends for their failures in the last three seasons of the Indian Super League (ISL) by hoping to qualify for the play-offs.
The 29-year-old has made four starts and already has two goals to his name. His goal against Jamshedpur FC turned out to be the winner while he put his team into the lead when Bengaluru FC visited Pune.
Interestingly, this is only the second edition of the ISL for Adil. Having represented Delhi Dynamos in season one, he joined Bharat FC only to be sidelined for the entire year. In the second half of the 2015-16 season, he plied his trade for Lonestar Kashmir in I-League second division.
Thereafter, he was seen playing for Dempo SC in the Goa League before joining Churchill Brothers where he played in each of the 18 matches and helped them stay afloat.
FC Pune City left everyone surprised with their decision to choose Adil Khan as their first pick in the ISL draft. However, it would be fair to state that the player is repaying the faith shown in him.
Bhubaneswar's reputation as sports hub rises with new facilities and host role
Kalinga Stadium is getting finishing touches before it hosts its maiden match in the Indian Super League (ISL).
The stadium was used for the Asian Athletics Championships earlier this year and the Men's Hockey World League Final this month.
It will now add another feather to its cap when Jamshedpur FC takes on Bengaluru FC on February 25.
"Odisha will witness its first match of the ISL when Jamshedpur FC will take on Bengaluru FC in one of its home matches on February 25, 2017 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar," read a pres statement from Tata Steel, which owns Jamshedpur FC.
Sources said the steel giant have hired a Delhi-based agency to develop the playing area for the match. "The match will be played under floodlights. We will provide all necessary help," said a sports and youth services department official. Kalinga Stadium has a capacity of 20,000.
Sports secretary Vishal Dev said the match would promote football in the state. "In recent times we have hosted the Asian Athletics Championship and the Men's Hockey World League Final. We will also host the Men's Hockey World Cup in November. With the addition of ISL, we will bolster the city's image in sports and the venue will get an opportunity to host major football tournaments," said Dev.
While the stadium area will be under the control of the team owners, the government will make arrangements for promotion and security.

Talked too much
Rumour: John Abraham is supposedly not pleased with coach de Deus, talks are on with Nelo Vingada, last year's coach. The officials are also contemplating changing some of the foreign players in the January transfer window. In such conditions, the match against FC Goa in Guwahati on 6 January is going to be an acid test for the present coach
But with average Indian players , they would need top class players to compensate for them .
