Manipur, Mizoram have a very early sunrise and sunset being in the Eastern corner of the country. They will have early start. By the way, AIFF give floodlight subsidy for every match even if played in Pune, Bangalore. But if floodlight towers are not there, they cant do anything.
China has one time only despite being a much bigger country then ours. It creates unnecessary confusion. Example: in Railways.British experimented with Bombay Time and Calcutta time but for Railways one and only Madras time was considered. Now our Observatory is near Allahabad and should suit every part of India.
Not having a separate time zone in eastern India is an enormous waste of resources.. As winter approaches, even in Kolkata its dark by 5pm.. As working hours remain the same a huge amount of daylight is simply wasted.
I think it is discriminatory for the East (including Bengal) as a whole; and a cause for traditional 'unproductiveness' or 'laid-back lifestyle' of this region. Allahabad time gives advantage to the part of the country west to it, hence they are more productive.
USA with its multiple time zones is running smoothly. Never heard of any complications/ wastage due to this. In India, maybe some initial hiccups would be there, but on the whole, it would be beneficial for the country.
