Leander Paes did the same thing in Rio Olympics. He reached Brazil only 36 hours before his match, did not participate in any training with Bopanna, was seen dancing in Flagmarch in Opening ceremony and then next morning lost in straight sets.
Some other young deserving youngster should have been selected in place of Leander. The opportunity got wasted !!!
India without him has still got enough talent to field two teams capable of winning the the Gold Medal. If they aren't drawn on the same side, then these two team these teams have the potential to make it an all India affair in the Gold Medal match. The likes of Divine Sharan,Purav Raja,Rohan Bopana,Vishnu Vardhan etc are all good players and are capable of winning the Gold Medal.
