I think Cleiton is an amazing striker. Even though BFC lost to Kerala, nobody noticed that Cleiton hit a bicycle kick which hit the woodwork and on the counter Kerala scored. Basically the game could have ended in BFC's favor! Parth has already hinted at getting a better striker than Opseth to compliment Cleiton and Chhetri.
Yes Fran has been quite a disappointment. This is a problem with most ISL teams, they let go of consistent performers for new ones hoping that it will be better but normally it's not. Case in point Albert Serran and Xisco. Xisco shouldn't have even been released after winning the season
@Ronny: I agree with your basic point that ISL teams have sometimes decided to part ways with consistent performers for new ones but in the case of BFC, I think that the players that you mention--Serran, Xisco plus Miku had more to do with financial liabilities rather than hoping that new players would be better.
Charles Cudrat hinted at this fact in his recent interview:
"The 2019 champion team deserved to defend their title on the pitch, but the football industry is a tough business, and decisions were made that caused us to lose important offensive players from 2019 (Miku, Xisco) and crucial defenders from 2020 (Nishu, Serran)."
Bengaluru FC owner Parth Jindal wrote the ‘losses increased dramatically’ during the pandemic
because of lack of ticketing revenue, losing sponsorship and the
additional cost of maintaining the bubble. Reliance Foundation
suspending the youth subsidy (of up to Rs 2 crore) to teams has been a
‘severe blow’, according to Jindal.
Subsidy cancellation is a wrong move. What kind of Lets Football is this ??
