@goalkeeper You are missing the point. I am not saying ISL clubs are better than i-League clubs. People need to see the bigger picture here. i-League has been operating this way since so many years without making much difference in the quality of the players it is producing for the national team. You have to accept I-League in the current form is not helping the purpose of its existence. Not saying ISL is doing this right at this moment but it can be in next few years if right steps are taken now by AIFF and all the old whining clubs from Bengal and Goa back it and join the bandwagon. I see a better future for Indian football if ISL and I-League gets merged and become 16 team.. 32 game weeks over the course of season. Relegation and Promotion in place with i-League 1 and i-League 2 as second and third division leagues. ISL currently has some top class coaches and this can only help our young Indian players technically as well as tactically.. This could potentially bring India in Top 5 Asian nations and possible world cup spot in future. I am just an optimistic Indian Football Fan wanting to see India play in World cup and produce players like Mbappe and Griezmann You never know..
The debate has been stretched too far. Even I agree with Snep that ISL is closer to achieving a world class league than I-League. I don't think all those opposed to ISL are fundamentally against this fact.
The point here is that the structure of ISL is ridiculous. It was fine when they started this way. But even after 5 years they are stranded at square one. Not a single bit of change towards achieving that potential. Overall contribution to the health of Indian football is negligible. It hasn't produced an ecosystem that is built around world class leagues. And how can it? It runs for 2.5 months with matches day in day out. I'm sure the staunchest of supporters get fatigued midway.
