Eelco has this habit of talking big and bogus. I remember that when he was in United, he used to say that if he got a chance to coach EB, he would make them league champs. And when he got a chance, he made EB play their worst game in probably years.
@Samyajit: Eelco has a habit of shooting his mouth off and making controversial comments; his comment on India is deplorable. But he cannot be solely blamed for his failure at EB. Remember East Bengal was in the middle of a coach-changing spree in 2013-2014--Falopa, Armando and Eelco were all recruited and then shown the door without being given much time to settle. Also there was a bad vibe between him and some players, he went as far as bringing a charge of "sabotage" against Baljit Singh Saini (again a sign of his poor man management skills maybe)
Yes, I admit that that year's team wasn't very promising but it didn't merit the drubbing it got. And as far as I remember, Eelco wanted to use Baljit as a right back even after he had scored a brace in AFC Cup. If I was in Baljit's place, I would have made sure that Eelco's allegations became true.
