Dempo SC Eye Jayanta Sen, T Karma, Raju Gaekwad And Anil Kumar To Strengthen Themselves Across All Positions
With Dempo SC having the AFC Cup campaign primarily to blame for not winning the I-League, coach Armando Colaco is ready to make the essential reinforcements to see that his club return to the summit of the I-League table in the coming season.
A few seasons ago, scoring a goal against Dempo would mean a lot for the opposition. However their defence has lost the impenetrable factor and thus they do not feature in the best back-line amongst the I-League clubs having conceded 34 goals, 13 more than that of East Bengal, in 26 matches.
Realizing the same, Colaco has already roped in Rowilson Rodrigues from Churchill Brothers and is set to sign Raju Gaekwad as well.
“Yes, we are interested in him. He is injured for the moment but we shall take care of him,” informed Colaco to Goal.com.
Their interested in Subrata Paul was warded off by Pune FC as they sought to replace Subashish Chowdhury, who had a woeful season by far as his indecision cost Dempo several matches. With the lack of options available in the goalkeeping department, Dempo have given an extension to the former Mahindra United custodian for another season.
An out of contract Jayanta Sen, who represented Mohun Bagan last season, looks set to don Dempo colours as he was contacted by the Goan club recently.
“Dempo are the best club and the coach told me that my style of play fits into their strategy. When he (coach) returns from Denmark, we shall have the final talks,” Jayanta told Goal.com.
Anil Kumar’s 11 goals have made him a hot property with several clubs vying for his signature but the Viva Kerala striker hasn’t yet made his mind up on the team he wants to represent in the 2011-12 season.
"I have offers from Dempo SC, Mohun Bagan and Salgaocar but I haven’t signed anywhere yet,” said Kumar.
Meanwhile T Karma of Viva Kerala has also caught the eye of Dempo as the winger has consistently put in some decent displays over the past two seasons.
Sorry I cant disclose the source,I'm closely following Viva for the last three years,so you can trust me <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->
