BTW Why has no one said Freiman Peixoto. He is leading the I-League in assists. Shouldnt that count for something.
How are you getting assists counts for I League
By reading every single match report from goal.com and other sources and when I read a description of a goal I see who made the final pass before the goal and then if it counts as an assist I count it.
Most of the non Goa, Kolkata or Pune matches are ill documented by almost all sources. I know that as I follow HAL games live and the match reports are hardly written by eye witnesses. So, given the coverage of I League and shitty reporting, most of the stats dont hold.
I am sure u have followed them honestly, and Peixoto might have most assists or atleast in top 5, but the problem is in the reporting medium.
Ya, its tough. Sometimes goal.com dont even have a report so I have to look else where. But I do take the time to go over them and look at other sources to make sure the final passer is the right player.
The best example is this -
HAL vs Air India
Manjit Singh scores in a free kick
I come back, see AIFF website reporting it to be Manandeep Singh. Accordingly, most news agencies just copy and report the same.
Then I chat with a Air India player. He says Manjit Singh. Ok
I talk with a AIFF media person, he says AIFF takes local agencies for these reporting but he will verify.
Nothing Happened.
Same complaints made by Royal Wahingdoh last season.

True. Actually Rudra can we take this to the wikipedia section of this forum because I am now pondering on whether to keep the assists table or not. Right now from what it says now, Peixoto is top with 5 assists while Ranty Martins, Clifford Miranda, Steven Dias and Sanju Pradhan are tied with 3.
Look how 2 local players from America and Canada had more goals than legend Thierry Henry and how in the assists an American beat David Beckham.
Yeah this happens around the world but not in India. :-??
Thing is though, it can. Just need to put on some restrictions and some deadlines for clubs to create academies (that have education as well). I remember the old NASL in America and how every season it would be a foreigner be the top scorer, for MLS they did a few restrictions (only for around 4 years) and it payed off, they finally took off the restrictions (because the managers of the clubs knew they could trust the local American players and we never looked back.
