thank god sandesh had let one watching this list and say that indians do score in our league or else more less looked like nigerian league when you watch it :-t
Robin singh or Speedy Singh it is quiet clear that none of the current Indian strikers are good enough for International level. They are worse than 3rd grade foreign players who ply their trade here in India.
@ashindia and @shankar haha dont be fooled by Sandesh being there. I just put him there just to have an Indian there. If you look at his wikipedia page you would see that he only has 6 goals.
I do agree with Ash though that this is bad. We need better. Even in the 2nd Division the top scorers are 2 Nigerians and 1 Indian who is 30 years old.
But again I am REALLY HOPING that this just shows you all that ROSTER RULES are needed. Each team can have a roster of 30 players which must be submitted 1 week before the season. Only 4 of the 30 players can be foreign. You are only allowed 1 foreign forward (ST, CF, RW, LW) and allowed 2 foreign midfielders. The other 1 foreigner can only play in defense. The goalkeeper must be Indian. Only 3 foreigners can be on the pitch. Of the 30 roster players, 15 must be under-21. In game you must field at least 1 Indian forward. In a game you must field at least 7 under-21 players.
Also start the salary cap at 1.5 crores. If you add the salaries of all 20 players (players 20-30 on the roster dont count towards the salary cap and they must be u21) then the total amount can not go over 1.5 crores.
Also I think we should start some requirements for teams. For example each team currently in the I-League must have an Academy by 2015. Stuff like that.
BTW Why has no one said Freiman Peixoto. He is leading the I-League in assists. Shouldnt that count for something.
How are you getting assists counts for I League
By reading every single match report from goal.com and other sources and when I read a description of a goal I see who made the final pass before the goal and then if it counts as an assist I count it.

Most of the non Goa, Kolkata or Pune matches are ill documented by almost all sources. I know that as I follow HAL games live and the match reports are hardly written by eye witnesses. So, given the coverage of I League and shitty reporting, most of the stats dont hold.
I am sure u have followed them honestly, and Peixoto might have most assists or atleast in top 5, but the problem is in the reporting medium.

Ya, its tough. Sometimes goal.com dont even have a report so I have to look else where. But I do take the time to go over them and look at other sources to make sure the final passer is the right player.
