FC Goa join hands with RB Leipzig, partnership focuses on youth development
FC Goa have entered into a three-year ‘strategic partnership’ with RB Leipzig but contrary to speculation, the Bundesliga giants' role with the senior team will largely be advisory.
FC Goa have been hunting for a technical partner for a while now. Over the last three years, the search has taken them to Spain, Iceland, Portugal and England before they decided Leipzig was the best bet.
The primary focus of the partnership will be youth development with plans in place to start over a dozen soccer schools across the country.
During the partnership, coaches from RB Leipzig’s Academy will come to Goa. FC Goa will also depute coaches and players from the club’s youth set-up for training at RB Leipzig’s Youth Academy, once described as the ‘most modern and most beautiful in Europe’ by former academy director
“With this cooperation, we have the first step in being able to show a pathway for every young footballer. They now know how they can make their dreams come true,” said Tandon.
During this period of collaboration, coaches from RB Leipzig’s Academy will be welcomed to Goan shores to impart knowledge via workshops. FC Goa will also be sending coaches and players from the club’s youth set-up for further training and learning the intricacies of the game at RB Leipzig’s Youth Academy.
The Gaurs and The Red Bulls will work in tandem not only to help each other to grow internationally, but also for the development of football in India. The partnership will see both clubs launch a nationwide Soccer Camp programme. The FC Goa National Soccer Camps, both online and offline, supported by RB Leipzig will make superior footballing skills & knowledge accessible to all football enthusiasts across India.
