For all those who sought a picture of the GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolim which will host the @IndSuperLeague opener between Kerala Blasters FC and ATK Mohun Bagan
Prediction for tomorrow 2-0 win for kbfc. Atk mb will be scratchy due to lack of match practice. Kbfc have Kone and Costa who could give them a clean sheet. Riwik Das on rw & Naorem on left ... Rahulkp as substitute
@SiV interesting. Ritwik Das!! The mohun bagan junior team player!!! I believe he and pintu mahato were batch mates at mohun bagan academy. It's surprising you have picked him in place of Rahul KP. Kibu is full of surprises though. I admire him so much.
Kind of excited to watch KBFC this season because they have Indian players like Rahul KP,Nongdamba, Givson, Sahal, Ayush Adhikari etc..would also like to follow how Akash Mishra,Rohit Danu,Vikram Partap etc fare for their teams. And ofcourse players who should be more settled this time like Amarjit Singh, Sumit Rathi, Narender etc
Experienced coaches(india) like Lobera, Cuadrat, Habas and Roca have selected squads with one foreign CB and have packed the squad with foreign forwards and midfielders.
5 substitute rule means a bit of disadvantage for coaches like Lobera, Kibu who play an attractive style with the same 11 every game. More chances for indian players to get gametime. Hope Vp singh, Adhikari , Danu etc get some gametime.
Boris, dheeraj should have gone on loan. Komal is not even registered. Rathi may not start. Boris, komal with their size will never get his chance under a physical team play of habas or Cuadrat.
Cuadrat is the best set piece coach to have landed in india.. indian team too started scoring setpieces bcoz of his influence. But plays very defensive ftball. he parked the aeroplane in that semis against ATK last season. They have found Muirang a tall defender good in headers who will start ahead of Ajith.
Robbie fowler is spot on with preparation. Set piece coach, now a psychologist.. like in the ipl, foreign players cannot cope up.. indian players will not have any issue mentally being in the bubble. Hope Robbie, a career oriented coach is successful this season. And with EB, u can never predict what will happen & they might do well..
Looks like JFC is the only team, which has lost the plot this season with poor domestic squad. Neufc has improved the most.
CFC suddenly looks impressive with Sylvestre/Isma. Chhangte, Rafael, Fatkulloh up front.. they can score a lot of goals.. Rahim Ali too seems to be stepping up... S Pandian is starting with Thapa in preseason matches. Guess Edwin will return to right back. Sipnovic , memo are upgrades to last yr players.. U never know.. CFC might be the dark horse favourites this time around, with all attention on Mcfc and atk.
Hope Kibu gets his mojo soon.. can see attractive style of play. Hyd fc have made gud signings. Remains to be seen, how they play..Fcgoa have a good squad as well..
ISL 2020-21: A coming-of-age season, unlike any other
An impressive ensemble
Seventy-three foreign players will feature in this edition of the ISL. Each of the 11 clubs is allowed a maximum of seven foreigners in their squad and one of them has to be from Asia. Twenty-one out of the 73 are from Spain, the most, followed by Australia (10) and Brazil (8). Most have experience of playing in the first or second division leagues in Europe and Australia.
Seven out of the 11 managers are from Spain as well. Bengaluru FC (Carles Cuadrat) and ATK Mohun Bagan (Antonio Lopez Habas) are the only teams who haven’t changed their coaches during the off-season. Sergio Lobera (former Barcelona assistant manager), Owen Coyle (ex-Burnley, Blackburn and Bolton manager) and Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler are some of the big names.
Mizoram, once again, has proven to be one of the biggest catchment areas for the clubs. Thirty players from the north-eastern state will take part this season; FC Goa is the only side without a Mizo player. Mumbai City’s 18-year-old midfielder Vikram Pratap Singh, Kerala Blasters’ Nongdamba Naorem, FC Goa’s Makan Chote and ATK Mohun Bagan midfielder Sahil Sheikh will be other young Indian players to watch out for.
aww. its the matchday. honestly if kbfc wins opening match it is not a good omen for the rest of the season. so i will be still happy with a draw or loss.
anyways finally something to look forward to in this stupid year. can't wait to go to JLN kaloor stadium next season. as with new season, the play should be good irrespective of the result. i don't want to see unnecessary back passes thus foiling the forward moves which irked me and fans when watching in the stadium leading to bad/swear words to the players.
