Good to see Liston finally getting noticed by people. Lobera has blood on his hands by just giving him 5 minute cameos once in three weeks when he could easily walk into the starting 11 of atleast 6-7 teams
So clearly Indian players who have joined less fancied clubs are getting more game time than those at clubs with title aspirations. Happy for those who made such moves
Hyderabad will get better with Adil Khan & Chianese coming in. Maybe Liston will also start. I like Aridane's leadership tonight. He was constantly communicating and cheering up the youngsters, even during the goal celebration. Narzary was decent too, contrary to my expectation. Somehow all coaches prefer him because of his workrate defensively. But his crosses are still hopeless.
Expect CFC to dominate the weakest team in ISL this edition. Hopefully few surprises like Camara emerge from JFC.. 3-0 for CFC. Chhangte, Rafael & isma.. Sipnovic ,& Fatkulloh are excellent additions as well
Young Indian Players ( from all the teams so far ) need to work more on Strength and Power.
Strength and power contribute to a player’s speed and agility as well as their ability to shoot, make long passes, defend and shield the ball, steal the ball from their opponents, and win balls out of the air.
Even accuracy of shots was erratic and directionless !!
If this aspect is lacking, they will not succeed in international football.
@SiV: It is true that on paper Jamshedpur are one of the weakest teams but one has to remember that they are helmed by Owen Coyle who effected the stunning turnaround at CFC last season. Waiting to see how the Coyle-Valskis combination works this time around. One of the concerns of JFC last season was their leaky defence and it would be interesting to see how they address the issue this year. Some of the underdogs have begun well and this team too might spring a surprise or two this season.
For CFC, Crivellaro will obviously be the key player but the Indian players--Anirudh Thapa, Chhangte, Jerry, Edwin--need to come good as well
Regarding OFC I wish Rohan Sharma had concentrated more on building his team rather than playing banter with some EB fans. Really a loud mouth, should have relied on his team to answer them but instead chose to mock others and now he is watching others mock his team..
OFC has a good squad, they missed almost 5-6 of their key players for various reasons and one of their top foreign signing in Cole Alexander is still under quarantine. The backroom staffs managing these logistical duties, certainly need to be held accountable for this mishap. I don't know how to attach my screenshots over here, otherwise I could have shown numerous occasions where OFC defenders and midfielders were found out of position. And that created a lot of space for Hyderabad players. Even there were many instances where you can actually see two players trying to cover a particular space but no one is putting himself on the line to prevent shots from outside D-Box. Similar issues but not in this volume can be found in Hyderabad defense as well. There were many silly mispasses under no pressure, even the goal was initiated due to a mispass in the midfield. Overall technically and tactically it looks wayward. Especially after the first three matches, where all the 6 teams were so compact at back and so organized in their defensive play, yesterday's match looked really poor in that context. I personally believe neither of the teams were actually prepared for the match due to the circumstances obviously. But with time much improved performance is expected from both sides. Yesterday they weren't ready.
You might be right about the defence @imsourav but I liked what I saw of HFC's midfield and attack. The way they were passing the ball around and putting sustained pressure on the opposition defence seemed pleasing to the eye. This was even more apparent after Liston came in as a sub. I agree with your assessment of OFC though.
From what I saw of the four matches, the first one between ATK MB and KBFC seemed to me the most insipid.
