Glad Manvir got some confidence. But EB defence was tired and stretched thin by then. No other teams will give him so much room. I'm happy to see the left foot finish
Indian players of East Bengal didnt do well in 2nd half.
Balwant took an atrocious shot in the Box - you need to atleast aim for the Goal from that distance.
Mohammed Rafique played two terrible mispasses - ruined the attacking moves
East Bengal defenders need to close in on attackers. They gave lot of time and space to opposition players to receive and take the shot - not done in professional football.
Plenty of thinking for Fowler to do, most importantly about shoring up his defence and deciding on his CFs. Balwant has been exposed, Jeje's fitness is a huge concern and Aaron has not been tested yet. The team cannot look up to Pilkington only for goals.
As for defence, the less said the better. None, including the foreigners, looked comfortable. The way they continuously kept a high line in the second half in search of goals was alarming. ATK MB were time and again hitting them on the counter and if it were not for some smart goalkeeping by Debjit and some lack of finishing by the opposition attackers, they could have suffered further embarrassment.
EB probably made a massive mistake by going into the season with Balwant and Jeje as their strikers. 2 players who have been suffering from injuries and poor form in the last 3 years.
