Bangladesh football team captain Jamal Bhuiyan left for India on Thursday to join Kolkata outfit Mohammedan Sporting Club to play in the upcoming I-league, scheduled to begin on January 9.
The 30-year-old midfielder returned to Bangladesh from Doha on December 22 after recovering from a COVID-19 infection.
‘I am going to India to join Mohammedan today [Thursday]. Everyone, please keep me in your prayers,’ Jamal said in a video message before heading to the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Jamal stayed back in Qatar for personal reasons after Bangladesh’s second-leg match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers against the hosts in Doha on December 4 and was found COVID-19 positive on December 10.
The Danish-born Bangladeshi was supposed to join the Kolkata based outfit on December 10 but could not due to the coronavirus infection and was in isolation under Qatar Football Association’s management until he tested negative on December 19.
Jamal will join Bangladesh Premier League team Saif Sporting Club Limited during the mid-season transfer window for BPL 2020-21 from April 15 to 30.
Chennai City FC have reached kolkata.. Squad details not announced yet.. Knew they have 3 Serbian 3rd tier plyrs (def, mf & fwd) and a Singapore intl striker... Looking forward to see ind talents Jockson das, Sriram, Vijay, C lourdsamy , pasha & Pravitto .. Some new talent too might come up.. you never know
10 teams have entered 7-day quarantine at designated hotels in Kolkata. I think NEROCA is the one missing and their first match is on 15th in 2nd round.
AIFF should have used Rabindra Sarobar stadium, since they plan to organize matches in the afternoon. No environment hazards if you host matches sans floodlights. It is more centrally located, more accessible too.
Anyway, good to see a new venue for football in the city.

Or has the AIFF adopted the motto of the Bhagavad Gita
"Set thy heart upon the work, but never on its reward"?
Anyway, @munna219777, can you please shift this thread to the "Announcement" section?
