How are these points calculated. For each member team aren't the points added and not averaged? What does having more than 1 member in afc cup denote- progress or decline. Am really trying to understand. No weight age system there only average is taken, qualifying itself should add points, then makes sense to avg. And Goa being in Acl should have more points than MB being in afc cup, and weightage based on level of competition. AFC and its rules are as listless as Liston Colaco in last game.
The Club Competitions Ranking (former Member Association Ranking, or MA ranking) is used to rank associations and also used for seeding teams in the competitions. It is also used to allocate the number of entries and entry points to the competitions.[2] There are however many shifts each year with associations not meeting off field requirements.
The ranking consists of the total of points of member association's clubs over the past four year. The points of the leading team were made 100 points in percentage terms. All other associations are adjusted proportionally to the leading team.
Formula : total of real association points / total of real leading association points x 100% = points association in percentage
example 1 : 40/50x100%=80 points in percentage
example 2 :
Qatar's point in 2019 rank = 71.150
China's point in 2019 rank(the leading associations) = 72.867
Qatar's point in percentage : 71.150/72.867x100=97.643652133 or 97.644%
Before 2017 rankings, matches in qualifying stage are not counted and country ranking is solely based on number of points divided by number of participating teams. The ranking is consisted of 70% club points and 30% FIFA points.
Until 2017 rankings, matches in qualifying stage are counted and added to country’s points. The ranking is consisted of 90% club points and 10% FIFA points.[3]
From 2019 rankings, matches in qualifying stage are counted and added to country’s points. The ranking is consisted of 100% club points (national team's FIFA points no longer considered).
The club ranking is calculated as 20% association points plus the number of club points in Asian competitions in the last four years.
Don't think this this sole criteria. I see Australia is below India in ranking 19.402 points yet it has 1 direct ACL and 2 direct AFC cup slots. Why? Or am I reading incorrectly
@souravindia current ranking will be used for 2023 slot allocation, where Australia won't be getting any ACL slots since they withdrew from ACL this year due to clash of schedule between ACL and A-league, also Australia are in East zone and zone wise ranking are used for slot allocation, so you need to be in top 10 of your zone to get direct slots.
Looking at above Minerva Punjab gave more points than FC Goa even though Goa played ACL. Looks a bit strange though.
In 2019 AFC cup group stage, Minerva Punjab played 6 games with 5 points (5 draws & 1 loss)- Accumulation of gained MA Points is 1.67 but after considering average ( 2 teams participated in AFC GS, Chennaiyin is other team), they have 0.835 points + 0.3 from ACL play-off participation. Total contribution is 1.135 ( 0.835 + 0.3)
FC Goa in 2020 ACL GS played 6 games & got 3 MA points ( 3 Draws & 3 Losses), but after considering average, MA contribution to India came down to 1 point as total 3 teams participated in AFC GS ( Goa, BFC & ATK MB)
Let's see BFC scenario in 2021 competition, they gained only 2.23 points in AFC GS but BFC contributed more than FC Goa as they have played & won in AFC cup preliminary & play-offs , has additional 0.3 points ( (2.23 / 3 = 0743) + 0.3 = 1.043 ) and Goa only 1 point.
In MA calculations, average is calculated independently in each stage. 1) Preliminary/Play-off stage ( In 2021, only BFC is gone thru this stage ). Hence 0.3 MA points added directly to final MA points without average 2) Group Stage ( In 2021, Goa, BFC & ATK MB played ) 3) Knock-out Stage ( In 2021, only ATK MB qualified to knock-out stage) and all MA points will be added to final MA without considering average
Here, even FC Goa gained 3 points in GS and have 3 initial MA points and have dropped down to 1 as AFC considers average in GS irrespective of ACL/AFC competition. However, ACL MA points will be higher than AFC Cup MA points in case of Win/Draw.
Also FC Goa neither played in Play-off stage like Minerva Punjab(2019)/BFC(2021) nor qualified to Knock-out Stage like ATK MB(2021)/BFC(2018) to get additional points like Bonus points/participation points.
