Attempts should have been made for those clubs to fulfill AFC criteria.
AIFF never discussed the criteria points.
They were in a hurry to dismiss clubs rather then include them while spouting misinformation in media.
Plus other non PSU mumbai clubs like Mumbai FC also shut down.
To me it looks more like creating an exclusive ISL territory in Mumbai !!!
We need more clubs, more competitions. PSU teams revive local football scene. I-League teams Air india ONGC HAL or mumbai FC, chennai city give opportuinities to local players.
Foolad FC of Iran plays in AFC Champions League. As the name indicates, it is owned by khouzestan Steel Company - a public sector govt owned steel plant in Iran. Even the website of the steel plant mentions the club
While AIFF does not allow Air India, ONGC type teams in I-League.
Its a good thing na.

Oh, here we go again
There can be a seperate competion for PSU teams. I have no problem with that. Those players can be feeder to I league/ISL clubs.
Please I don't want any sarkari sounding teams in a professional league now.
How about these names ONGC - Mumbai Heats FC Air India - India Highflyers FC
Future of PSU is not certain in this country. Maybe each strategic sector will have 4 PSU s in future. Once PSU s becomes private, owners may or may not keep the sporting wing. Hence better to have small scale professional clubs with realistic & feasible revenue model.
