Everyone is hyped abut Joni Kauko, but if you ignore the hype, and actually take a look at the profile of the player, he is just an average foreigner in ISL. Players have been brought in from way better leagues than Danish second division, so I don't get why everyone is hyped about this signing. This guy might even be a downgrade on Javi Hernandez
He has played in the Danish 2nd Div only in last season because his club got relegated and he had contractual obligations. National team player of a country ranked 54 is definitely a good player for me.
I'm not really positive about Kauko's signing. He has been playing in colder climate countries having an avg temp of around 6-7 degree Celsius and a sudden change to goa's hot and humid climate with avg. temp of 29 C will be taxing on his performance. ISL should consider players who are accommodated to climatic conditions similar to India. Going only for players profile without considering these factor is a great risk.
Should not be an issue for Joni Kauko as he has experience playing in Frankfurt (Germany ) & now playing for Esbjerg (Denmark) . These two places are not coldest.
But I agree temperature & climate will impact players performance and it will take months for few players to adjust. That is the main reason, Spanish players getting adjusted immediately & having instant impact in India. Spain has warmer & better climate then most of the European countries including UK & Germany.
Human body can adopt anywhere, but it needs time and 4 month long league wont provide that. Also we all have seen goa's climate impact on AFC champions league teams and how it favored FC goa.
FC Goa sign Sporting Clube de Goa centre back Kunal Kundaikar. Spent most of the season on loan with Panjim footballers and was considered to be the most impressive defender in the league
ATK MB officially announced Joni Kauko signing. He signed 2 year deal and being assigned shirt no.7.
Agree we got better known players then Joni Kauko. But most of them are ex-world cup players, few are ex-NT players. Signing someone who recently played in Euro & some ex-Euro/World/La Liga cup player is totally different.
On top of it, as debarghya89 mentioned , he played in Danish 1st tier for 4 seasons (110+ games). Also played in German 2nd tier for 2 seasons (48 games). Danish top tier is competitive. Javi Hernandez is good player and had success in Polish top tier. Of late, polish top tier is not comparable with Danish top tier. Also he is only 30 year old ( 31 in July ) & scored good no. of goals in Danish 1st & 2nd tier.

As he came-out of Hibernation, we need to start calling him as LOL man.
But I'm ok with his LOL's as long as he is not disliking my posts
