They won and they did well to respect the competition and sign decent players for the league. They retained only a few from qualifiers.
But none of the new signings could play because they had to play 2 different tiers in a single transfer window. Kenkre would also have the same problem, but I they didn't make big changes to the team. They didn't do much upgrade.
AIFF is the one to be blamed here for this scheduling mess. First, for conducting the previous year's I-League 2nd division as a 2-week tournament just before I-League. Also, they could just delay the league by a week. It's not a long tournament, they already made it a 3-month league. There's no harm in one more week delay.
