2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup

India will be hosting 20th edition of AFC Womens Asian Cup between 20 January to 6 February.

This is the second time India will host this prestigious tournament. Previously India hosted 3rd Asian Cup at Calicut in 1980.

Japan are the defending champions.

12 teams will compete in 3 groups

Group A   India, China, Chinese Taipei, Iran

Group B   Australia, Thailand, Phillipines, Indonesia

Group C   Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Myanmar

Venues are

Andheri Stadium Mumbai, D Y Patil Stadium Navi Mumbai and Balewadi Stadium, Pune.  All games will be played behind closed doors due to Covid.

so the 4 semi finalist qualify to the WC and 5th and 6th place teams go to WC intercontinental playoffs..we need to make it to the quarters by getting 4 points from Iran and Chinese Taipei game..anything is possible in the quarters

actually 4 semifinalists + 5th positioned team will directly qualify for WC. 6th & 7th position go for inter continental playoffs.
so total 12 teams in all taking part in a competition, out of which 5 automatically qualifies. seems a good deal for AFC, even more than for Men's. 
this is the most realistic chance for us to qualify for the WC.

Don't forget. Australia already qualified as hosts. So if they qualify for Quarter (which is almost a sure shot), then all quarter-finalists can travel to Australia/New Zealand with 5+AUS to World Cup and remaining 2 for playoffs.

Only one 3rd place team in group stage will be knocked out. This is a real chance for India. Just don't lose all three matches.

The players were infected during training camp in Spain.

Vietnam Women's Team will play the first match in AFC Women's Asian Cup 2022 on January 21 against South Korea.
