Indian domestic football is all poised to kick off with the Durand Cup, the oldest existing club football tournament in Asia. This is the 133rd edition of the tournament, and it begins on July 27, 2024 with defending champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant taking on Downtown Heroes at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan at 6 PM. In keeping with the new format of the tournament introduced in 2022, all the 13 clubs in the ISL, teams from the I-League as well as the armed forces from India, Nepal and Bangladesh will be takinng part in the tournament. The matches will be hosted in four cities--Kolkata (Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan and Kishore Bharati Krirangan), Kokrajhar (SAI Stadium), Jamshedpur (JRD Tata Sports Complex) and Shillong (Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium), with the last two venues being added as host cities for the 133rd edition to expand the tournament in India's eastern and northeastern regions.

The 24 teams will compete in six groups of four, for a total of 43 matches in a round-robin league structure followed by knockout games. The group winners and the two best second-placed teams will advance to the knockout stage. The defending champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant are the most successful team of the competition having lifted the trophy 17 times closely followed by their arch-rivals East Bengal with 16 trophies.

All the matches will be telecast on the Sony Sports Network with live streaming available on Sony LIV app and website.
