I don't think that's the case . On the basis of what's happening now , I think MB made the right decision . You really cannot predict Israel's counter measures . They would've retaliated and that could've caused some ugly scenes . I think definitely some government agencies must have warned MB because no one saw this coming .
Mohun Bagan disqualified and banned for 4 years by AFC for failing to show up in Iran and causing a loss of 7 Cr to afc
In accordance with Article 5.2 of the AFC Champions League Two™ 2024/25 Competition Regulations (the “Competition Regulations”), the Asian Football Confederation (the “AFC”) confirms that India’s Mohun Bagan Super Giant are considered to have withdrawn from the AFC Champions League Two™ competition after the club failed to report to Tabriz, Islamic Republic of Iran, for their AFC Champions League Two™ Group A fixture against Tractor FC on October 2, 2024.

For the avoidance of doubt, no points and goals in the club’s matches shall be taken into consideration when determining the final rankings in Group A pursuant to Article 8.3 of the Competition Regulations.

The squad consists of 10 foreigners, although their star striker, Japanese World Cupper Keisuke Honda, has returned to Japan for personal reasons. There are four other Japanese players in the squad. They have been the champions in the Bhutan Premier League for the last four years; they have scored 81 goals in 18 matches in the league. Other than Honda, their Ghanaian striker Evans Asante has scored 10 goals in this season and has been making a name for himself for the past few years. Apart from that, William Opoku, who had played for Minerva Punjab and later for BSS Sporting Club and Bhawanipore FC, and Richard Gadze, who plied his trade for Delhi Dynamos, are also there in the team.
