ok some of the later comments were in english...my favourite lines :
name, Jersey, logo, all these carry not only emotion but by time these become symbol of tradition, admiration, affection, dedication, devotion, exaltation, appellation, aspiration, elation, fascination, identification and many many more

a great collection of Adjectives

another great one
Loves and Emotion make a man sillier than a kid …. Fall in love … You will get to know

Will like to have him discussing football here too ...call him guys
• Lets not mock them

Irrespective of the fact that they are well versed with modern football or not, these fans are passionate about their clubs and go to stadium to cheer for their team. Something a lot of us might not be doing.

I have been a supporter of both Juventus and Mohun Bagan since 1996 and I have never felt the need to buy a jersey to express my passion.

Although, I didnt understand all of it. The point I think is not the Jersey itself...jersey is just an example..its the mentality of bringing a change.
See, whenever the clubs don't do well, the fans crib about professionalism etc., but when someone's actually suggesting some changes, they are mocked. In one of the later posts someone attacks 'ashindia' and asks things like whether you have read such and such books, whether you know such and such history etc. That should be the main point of concern.

But then fans will always be fanatic, be it Kolkata fans or British one's

Oh I totally agree with the fact that we are not aware of things like merchandising and we do resist changes. What I dont like is the fact that you are using one of his quotes to mock him. You cant take his random quotes like that..

Seriously I have no intention of mocking any fan,its just that these people take the posts too seriously and start bring unnecessary issues.

All I wanted to explain is that(There were 2 other E.B fans supporting me), traditionally clubs around the world change their jersey designs every season in order to increase their sales to generate revenue. So why not Indian clubs including E.B do the same.

But these were the replies I got for my explanation :-
Arunangshu ....
Aamar jotodur money pore last few seasons aamara protibar notun notun jersey introduce korechilam ... Even MB-o tai korechilo .... Last year-i aabar decide kora hoy purono design-e phire jaoya hobey ... And this design agin proved to be lucky for us .... As sysmbolic we can launch new jersey every year ... But in field I want to see this lucky old jersey .... OLD IS GOLD
Arunangshu ....
@Ruben
I must say since 2002 East Bengal Club kept on launching New Jersey every year ... only last year we moved back to our old traditional jersey ... name, Jersey, logo, all these carry not only emotion but by time these become symbol of tradition, admiration, affection, dedication, devotion, exaltation, appellation, aspiration, elation, fascination, identification and many many more …. Just adjectives galore …. I have seen lot many people who lamented over the change of our traditional Jersey design over the past few years … May be they are old and orthodox … But the fact is they are also there and support East Bengal from the bottom of their Heart… There will always be 2 kind of people …
May be tomorrow some set of people want new name of the club every year, new color combination every year, new logo every year …. You may be one of them may not be …. It depends again on your emotional balance ….
And as far as Superstition concerned …. There are innumerable illogical inexplicable superstitions exist in Kolkata Moidan …. Lot many star players, coaches, officials and even the supporters followed and still follow various kinds of superstitions …. This happens only because of the unconditional love & respect they have towards the club, towards the game, towards their responsibility …. And yes it matters when it affects anybody emotionally … Love emotion, affection don’t follow logic dear …
Anyway if I keep away the superstition part to me this old jersey design gives me lots many old feelings and memories back which are very much precious to me … And this jersey is just not a Fashion apparel to me
And ending with one small question … How would you love to have New Surname every Year?

Suman
Change, just for the sake of changing does not make sense.

Hello Ashtray
Plz dont comment on East Bengal without knowing the sentiments of Bengali football and Bengali history...Have you seen any EB match on the ground?

Do you know the partition of Bengal....Do you know the Bijoygarh refugee coloney... Do you know the hunger on the Sealdah Platform?
Do you know Manik Bandopadhay's short stories? Do you know Rittik's movie depicting the miseries of the refugees?
Do you know about the millions uprooted from their land, marching down the Jessore Road.

If not, please refrain from making ugly comments on EB's Jersey, as a little knowledge can be dangerous.

Your comments on East Bengal are similar to my comments on Chineese Music.

EB is not a fancy club like Lajong, Pune FC, Mumbai FC....

Its a saga of 2-3 generations and their struggle against all odds and coming victorious at the end....
Suman
Hence our Jersey is more precious than the turban of Shikhs...and we would prefer to keep it unaltered as an emblem of "Never say die" philosophy of refugee generations.

@ Sumanda...

eto-ta rege jeo na please..:"Chaira dao polapan"... Mone hoy na o eto-ta bhebe montobyo koreche

& Mr . " @$|-| "- PLease don't mind by caling you in that name as I dno't know your original name...

Your opinion might be very imp., very strategic, very unique....but please see to that your opinion is not maligning somebody's basic sensitivity & ideas. So better think of others before saying anything which might be harsh comment to anybody.... Hope you get the point...EB jersey is not a fashion statement...please do remember that before comment..

Ragbo na maney???

"stop this good for nothing age old traditions"

Who is this new Messiah, to talk on our tradition?

Ar Europe niye bogus gyan marchey......Jane ki how conservative the Europeans are?

"All this is part of promotional strategies to increase revenue and if E.B fans themselves are not bothered then its their loss."

--- Does he feel our Jersey is a Bankura r gamcha sold at Howrah Market?

Shob kichu te baniyagiri dhokano jaye na.

Now If you seriously feel their points are true then do explain them.

This is not the first encounter with them,I have had debates earlier too and all I got was abuses and bans.

And please If you think we are mocking them then do justify their points.

but "ashindia", the truth is if you want a change, it has to come from within that group...if you are not from that support group, then you will always be mocked or resisted..I think this is true for most things in our society..

Somnath - I realize I went overboard with that by quoting the guy...Let's see how the discussion goes, will edit/delete few posts..thanks
