egg and chicken question.!!! isnt it? some will argue, officials just represent fan sentiments
I am not sure though about the whole thing...
....but let me tell one thing..we talk about how good pune has been in terms of management and all, but the crowds still dont come..i know last year more ppl were there , this year very less? why? Just proves aggressive marketing can only give u footage for sometime but in long run u need more than that
As I said many times earlier and will again repeat that Pune FC have done fantastic job in just 4 years after their founding in 2007.A lot depends on marketing of the game by AIFF,Indian team performance and media coverage(Sorry rest of India is not fed with Football Passion and that's not our mistake).
No matter how big the history or fans base of M.B & E.B I still feel each and every Indian club has to learn something from Pune FC and this is what everybody outside Bengal feels too,now I know some people may not agree with my statements but that's true.
I am watching this debate from the very beginning in EBRP orkut comm. I didn't want to get me involved in this issue but now I think I should give some info to clarify the situation. Few things every body overlooked -
1. East Bengal continuously changing their kit design for last 10 years. From the previous season of Asean cup they are regularly changing the design of the jersy keeping the color combination same. So the basic fact is overlooked. For last 10 years EB had two kit sponsors RBK & PONY. For your kind info after the year of Asean & NFL win East Bengal & Reebok launched their official jersey priced Rs/-599 [Same year Mahun Bagan also had reebok as their kit sponsor and reebok also launched MB kit]. But very few were actually sold. In a country like India you cannot expect a club will generate revenue by selling shirt only.
2. East Bengal has today launched its first official restaurant in Kolkata. Now please do not say that East Bengal should have opened a BAR as some European clubs have that. Is not it a good step to promote the club?
3. The separation of the nation & the formation of East bengal club is co related, so huge amount of sentiment is their. If some fans show some emotion over it I cant see any thing wrong. Even Catalans have huge sentiment over FCB. @admin please do not make fun of it.
4. Just two months back Kalyan Chaubey was appointed by Mahun Bagan as in charge of their academy. So a former footballer into soccer admin, is not it a good step by Mahun Bagan?
5. Still I do agree that there is lot of things to be done to improve the game in Kolkata and their is no sign of youth development yet. So as far change is concern we need to change the basic infrastructure of the game. And basic means ground and training facilities not the color or design of kit [Though both the clubs are changing regularly]. East Bengal & Mahun Bagan both use Indian Army's land as their home ground so it is very tough to construct anything new there. It is a kind of hindrance to improve gallery and ground.
Hope people can understand.
I agree with all of your points but what saddens is not much has changed despite an impressive presence of 100 years. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Very recently east bengal has appointed ranjan chowdhury as its technical manager, who will over look all development works of east bengal football club(all age groups and senior team).
east bengal is in talks with its former footballer suleh musha to take charge of east bengal junior teams. His work will be like colm tole. He will be the head of junior level development.
east bengal is the only kolkata based club to have its own property at jadavpur, kolkata. Where east bengal has its own three stored building used as u16 and u19 team's hostel.

He is a different Ranjan Chowdhury, not ex-TFA, currently working with PFC; he was a coach of Tollygunge or Southern Samity, joined EB alright.
