  • We already have Cooperage and Balewadi in Maharashtra but I expect only one of them to be used and from looking at reports the Cooperage would be used and not Balewadi.

    Then you got the Kaloor International Stadium in Kerala which has floodlights and bucket seats.

    You also got the Paljor Stadium in Sikkim which only needs a small renovation.

    The JNS in Delhi is a 100% choice for the opening match and Final and Salt Lake for the Semi-Finals.

    Mainly we need to renovate the Salt Lake Stadium.

    We only need 5 stadiums and in the end I think it will be Cooperage (Group Stage), Kaloor (Group Stage and Quarters), Paljor (Group Stage and Quarters), Salt Lake Stadium (Semi-Finals), JNS (Opening match and Final Match)
    if i am given a choice to select i would make sure that none of these football stadiums possess those athletic tracks between the field and fans...so that will end us with ambedkar replacing jln stadium and barasat stadium replacing ybk....renovation of such stadiums are important as one fan get the real football feeling in such stadiums only...along with stadium each in south, west and north-east at least.

    The most recent one had way bigger tracks than ours. I dont think it will be a problem. <!-- s:handgestures-thumbup: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/handgestures/thumbup.gif" alt=":handgestures-thumbup:" title="Thumb Up" /><!-- s:handgestures-thumbup: --> `

    Also ya that is why I posted it. You could look up those stadiums and get an idea of what kind of stadiums are used.

    I have been to both those places. Jamaica has a lot to do. They only have one good stadium and Guetemala have a lot to fix in terms of stadiums and security

    I think we sud go for it...atleast in that context we will have some development and AIFF will have to put more efforts in building the youth team.....might have a lasting impact on our football

    I hope the following is done...
    1) Bucket seats added ALL AROUND the Salt Lake Stadium and half one half of the stadium with maroon and green seats and the other half with Red and Gold seats becuase in 10 years (lets be honest) it will only be Mohun Bagan and East Bengal playing at the Salt Lake
    2) Bucket seats added to the upper tier of the Kaloor and if possible move the seats closer to the field or do temporary seats
    3) Get Cooperage Ground to 15,000 seats
    4) Renovate the Paljor Stadium (seats etc)
    5) Add more seats to the Shillong Stadium

    WHY? In 10 yrs all other Kolkata clubs will be demolished?

    Man, Salt Lake Stadium is the only one stadium in Kolkata that meets the International standards to some extent. You need to give opportunity to all the clubs to play in good stadiums. The condition of other stadiums is pathetic. And it is foolish to believe that Kolkata will have only two clubs after 10 years. Just like London has many renounced clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, etc. still many small lower division clubs exists.

    But if meant that in 10 years, many other stadiums would be built in and around Kolkata and teams other than big two will play on those stadiums then it is one thing I sincerely pray for.
