  • I dont Chennai will get game. They have the Nehru Stadium but what else. Same with Goa. Fatorda is there best stadium and it is crap. Mumbai has Cooperage but what training grounds. I bet Mumbai and Air India will have training on school fields but that is not enough. U17 players need professional training grounds. Kolkata better but the MB and EB grounds from the Army (why does the Army even own those stadiums anyway) and renovate them. Sikkim vs Shillong will be an interesting battle. Sikkim needs a training ground or they wont get a game.
getting place for training ground in mumbai wont be difficult as there is azad maidan available too which aiff can talk with local body and get it available and anyway mdfa possess couple of grounds for their local league which shall be used...but the main problem in mumbai is gonna be the capacity of cooperage....

If all goes to plan the Cooperage will be a 15,000 seater stadium which is good enough for the Group Stage of the Under-17 World Cup.

The Azad Maidan needs a major renovation. It is a big area and WIFA should look to by buy out the area and renovate it into around 6 small football pitches and 1 rugby pitch.

the chance of azad maidan being sold is almost impossible with the place used for many sporting activities along with some other local activities and events too so easy choice would be that wifa could ask BMC to get permission to renovate it and be allowed to use these grounds whenever needed ...there are 2-3 grounds under wifa which could be easily for the training ground purposes though which could easily be used without much conflicts
  • Ya that should be done. Buy out some land and renovate it. WIFA need at least 2 practice fields for the u17 world cup.

the choice of location is ideal but i doubt the capacity of fans mumbai would be able to host

getting fans is the least of all the problems. You have to just pack and market it. Mumbai junta will go for anything that is hyped

i mean both capacity of stadium and fans as well ....a 5k capacity stadium wont look good at least a 15000 capacity should be there before the event(if allotted).

Its 2012 right now and Cooperage will have 5,000 bucket seats. In 5 years it should have 15,000 and maybe (just maybe) it could have 20,000 which would be perfect for the FIFA U17 World Cup.
