just give a look at my point given..
all these goan, kolkatta and maharashtra clubs are good in scouting which is being heavily missed by other state clubs.....
if a pune fc can get a guy like soram scouted at young age..shouldnt he be found directly by a NE club first???
it is just that they are not good in these things which is affecting the team..
if you see some unknown talents from places like bangalore , delhi, jk also play in tournaments...all lower division clubs needs to reach to talents if they plan to make it big and move ahead...
or else the only route available is franchise league where we can decide where should a club come from and all
And thus why I love expansion and not promotion/relegation (yet).
Obviously I go this way for other reasons to (financial reasons) but I hope that people who kept on saying that we should keep Promotion/Relegation realize now that it cant work... at least not now.
Just keep it at 10 teams:
Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Prayag United, Pune FC, Mumbai FC, Shillong Lajong FC, United Sikkim FC, Royal Wahingdoh FC, Dempo SC, Sporting Clube de Goa.
That would make 6 states represented. 8 cities represented as well. Plus you can also expand to other markets like Aizawl, Kerala, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai etc.
BTW Shankar expansion cant be done that easily. You need to make the league look marketable and caring on paper. Have proof and examples. And then sponsors like Pepsi and then you need some investors willing to come in... and there are, they are just not coming in because they know long term this current league is not stable. Look at Lajong, they have an organized team and now they got that UAE company. Pune FC has the most sponsors in I-League!

i also think it same way only to have a 10 team league but purely franchise based with every state having only 1 representation with exception of two franchises named east bengal and mohun bagan who does possess a huge fan base which could be used for benefit for the promotion of league followed by one each from goa, mumbai, pune, delhi, bangalore, kochi, shillong and punjab
this league shall be run on basis of 2 legged home away format where every team could face each other twice on their home and away each season so that the afc criteria is also completed...
the advantages of this league would be the proven success of franchise league in various sports including cricket and hockey, from which the organizers might take a leaf and use that for the success of league..
I dont think 1 team per state can work really. Not all the states can hold a football team and I doubt we will ever have a first division that goes past 20 teams. 24 at most.
Also I doubt at this moment we have investors willing to invest in a team from a state that has no football history. At least Nagaland, Aizawl, Chennai, Hyderabad, Nagpur have history. And again expansion cant be done every season. It can happen every 3-5 years.
For example in MLS it went like this...
1996: 10 teams
1997: 10 teams
1998: added 2 more teams
1999: stayed at 12 teams
2000: stayed at 12 teams
2001: stayed at 12 teams
2002: went down to 10 teams
2003: stayed at 10 teams
2004: stayed at 10 teams
2005: added 2 more teams
2006: stayed at 12 teams
2007: added 1 more team
2008: added 1 more team
2009: added 1 more team
2010: added 1 more team
2011: added 2 more teams
2012: added 1 more team
Today a total of 19 teams.
Basically after MLS's first 10 years they only increased by 2 teams. Then BAM! The next 6 seasons would see 7 new teams come in. So expansion is a very slow process but eventually it will hit its BOOM and you will see city after city come in.
HAL and Kerala out so no SI + No representation from NI too I would say better rename the league as East-West India League from next season.
Also don't wet your Diapers next season when I-League viewership ratings will be 0.0000001
As if having HAL, CUK was anyway increasing I-League viewership!!!!
what exactly are we gonna get from this east-west league???we are getting the fans who might just get saturated with over dose of matches in city and end up losing the already small fan base

I am not saying East-West is any good...in fact I am one of the casualties of losing football in bangalore.... I just commented on the viewership... honestly, they dont make much chnage...Ten sports ppl are not idiots and that's why they only show matches which will have some target audience.... I don't support that..in fact i would love to see all the matches...but its buisness...its there money...they will know better

Exactly why I rather 2 teams in Kolkata and Goa. Think about it. Bengal and Bagan get 20,000 in a 120,000 seater per game (cept for Derbys). If they are the only 2 teams and they market themselves properly they can easily get 40,000 a game. Plus I would like them to move to a different stadium smaller than Salt Lake. The atmosphere at the Salt Lake is shit. I watch the matches and you hear the crowd but that is because the camara is on the side the fans are. The stadium looks empty and trust me... 20,000 fans in a 25,000 seater sounds and looks better than 20,000 in a 120,000 seater.
Here is an example. My New York Red Bulls from 1996-2009 play in a 80,000 seater and now play in a 25,000 seater.
The place looks packed! Of course I dont expect that kind of stadium from Bagan and Bengal but at least make it 20,000 seats. Make there games look good on TV and LIVE.

They could have though. If they marketed well and focused on the fans they would have gotten at least 5,000 a game.

Its looks like a small crowd but really they averaged 20,000 a game and that is what the crowd looked like. Then they move to the 25,000 seater and BAM...
