SHILLONG Lajong have copied PFC and gone with the "pay for your likes" option on Facebook. Advertise for $5/week and you are guaranteed increase in likes. The true figures are around 18-20 thousand. ..similar to their home ground attendance of late.
@gaffertape its good they are advertising and looking to incorporate the new media... (fb ads, mobile apps) as a part of their strategy to tap into for fans..... since most people from the 7 sisters move out from the hills for higher education and jobs... dont you think that's good?

the pay for likes option on FB is a clever marketing gimmick.
Clubs can then pitch to an Aircel or Kingfisher ( as in the case of Lajong ) and claim to have a reach of over 1 Lakh likes..
reality is much less...
My point is, there is no point paying much attention to such matters...like crossing 1 Lakh likes.
They took 3 yrs to go from 0- 10,000 fans...but after Anglian FDI they went up 10 fold in 2 years !!
yeah i understand that it can be used as a gimmick and yes i agree that facebook likes play just a small part in attendance but for example consider me i am a chelsea fan and have never been to stamford bridge but does it mean that i aint a fan of chelsea fc? this can help the club in other ways(read merchandising)
Paid FB likes are mostly useless. The new fans mostly do not get your updates by default. If the number is not growing organically, its mostly just a number.
