The technical committee appointed by AIFF are not satisfied by Bob's performances ans have asked AIFF to look for a new coach

Here are my issues with the Telegraph article:
"The members pointed out that India’s performance under Houghton in all the official tournaments, including Saff Cup, had remained poor,"
What are they talking about? I think our performance, given where we were, has been phenomenal. And, we won the SAFF cup, didn't we? And that too with an U-23 team! The only performances that sucked were the 2010 WC qualifiers in 2006, and the friendlies prior to the Asia Cup.
“The committee felt, since Houghton had already spend five years with the team, the federation should look for his replacement,”
Overlooking the obvious typo (don't they have proofreaders at these newspapers? I thought labor was cheap in our country), 5 years is a lot, but that isn't a good enough reason to remove him.
"So one sided is the nature of the contract that any attempt to remove Houghton before the end of his tenure could mean the federation would have to shell out his entire salary till 2013."
"So one sided is the nature", says the Telegraph. That's an opinion, not a fact, and this is a news article in the Telegraph, not an OpEd. As a newspaper, the Telegraph should know better.
Anyway, I deal with a lot of employment contracts in my line of work, such provisions are standard when you're looking to hire someone who has other options. Most national team coaches are engaged at the same time, a certain number of months before a large tournament or qualifiers. If Houghton was looking to chose between India and Vietnam when signing his contract, he wasn't going to sign with India if they had the option of firing him in 2 months even if there is a reasonable severance package, because Vietnam wouldn't be waiting for him at that time. He would ask for full compensation. Especially when dealing with bureaucratic establishments like the AIFF, where apparently there are idiots like Chowdhury who can get him fired because their feelings got hurt.

Nothing new though...we have seen and heard all this before....one thing is clear - politics in Indian football involves officials , coaches as well as players......
if we he can't qualify from that group, he should be sacked then
