If Jamil is smart, he would have a month long pre season. The fitness level was abysmal in last few years for EB. Injury management has to improve. EB should play CFL with academy grads, new signings and couple of foreigners (Amna already signed).
@sam: Going by your logic (of EB approaching players who are going to be married), they should remember that a certain Leo Messi is getting married on 30 June. They can approach him...whether he responds to their offer is a different question altogether

Kolkata: Though arch rivals Mohun Bagan is yet to start their team build-up process for the forthcoming season, Kingfisher East Bengal is going steadily to build a formidable squad. The Red and Gold brigade has already hijacked Djair Miranda Garcia as their new physical trainer from Mohun Bagan. The press conference of Khalid Jamil indicated a few more things which might help East Bengal to form one of the strongest squads of the season despite the recent turmoil in Indian football. The East Bengal side is like to have a serious change in their team line up as well, as they are trying to sign a quality foreign goalkeeper this season.
In his first press conference, Khalid Jamil hinted a few new positives, as he said, “Jayesh Rane and Ashutosh Mehta may join East Bengal as well.” No doubt, if the duo join, East Bengal might have the two most consistent footballers of the last season.
East Bengal will start their training from the 1st August. East Bengal official Debabrata Sarkar said, “We have contracts with nine footballers. They are Arnab Mondal, Gurwinder Singh, Md Rafique, Abinas Ruidas, Cavin Lobo, Samad Ali Mullick, Nikhil Poojary, Deepak Kumar and Suhair VP.”
The East Bengal official also said, “The newly signed players are Tanmoy Ghosh (Mohun Bagan), Surabuddin Mullick (Churchill Brothers), Richard Costa (Churchill Brothers), Brendan (Aizawl FC), Lalramchullova (Aizawl FC), Mahmoud Al Amna (Aizawl FC, Foreigner), Mirshad (Kerala) and Joby Justin (Kerala). We have also promoted seven players from our youth team. They are Mehtab Singh, Rahul Ghosh, Bidyasagar Singh, Prakash Sarkar, Suranjit Singh, Yami and Tete Puia.” He added, “The goalkeeping slot has been a serious concern for us in the last few seasons and we are trying to sign a good foreign goalkeeper this season.”
Though there is a little confusion regarding goalkeeper Santosh Trophy winning Shankar Roy, as the youngster has mistakenly signed for both East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting. Though Debabrata Sarkar said, “We would be following the legal way. If that mandates us to leave him, we will surely release him to play for Mohammedan Sporting.”
The support staff for the new season will be like this:
