Khalid Jamil wants to conduct a residential camp for 8-9 days before the I-League...he wants the venue to be somewhere in the hilly regions of the North-East since there are three teams--Neroca FC, Aizawl FC and Shillong Lajong from the N-E in the League this time and his team would have to play three matches against them in their home grounds
Kolkata: Kolkata giant East Bengal faced a huge blow today ahead of the forthcoming I-League season as their star defender from Trinidad & Tobago; Carlyle Mitchell suffered a hamstring injury at the Barasat Stadium today during a practice session. He looked in serious pain after the incident. As per the sources the injury is pretty serious, the team management has taken Mitchell to a hospital for a MRI. If it is found that he has got a tear in his hamstring, his participation in the I-League would be in serious doubts.
The Red & Gold Brigade was practicing at the Howrah Municipal Corporation ground for last few days, but the team management had decided that the team would practice at the Barasat Stadium today. Barasat has an Astro-turf and according to many a sudden practice session on the artificial turf is the main reason for his injury.
If the team management sees that Mitchell’s injury is serious they might call Zimbabwean international defender Victor Kamhuka for a trial ahead of the I-League. The officials had discussed his name too in a meeting few days back. Victor Kamhuka played for Patha Chakra in the recently concluded Calcutta Football League 2017.
Also East Bengal reportedly to play a practice match against FC Pune City on 30 October at Pune
City giant Mohun Bagan’s former foreign defender Aniyeche Echezona was at Howrah Municipal ground today to give a trial for East Bengal for the forthcoming I-League season. The Red & Gold Brigade’s ace defender Carlyle Mitchell is out of the pitch for next 8 weeks due to a hamstring tear. This might be the reason for Eche’s trial.
Eche did his practice today in presence of East Bengal coach Khalid Jamil, but he looked a bit sloth during the trial today.
East Bengal’s another foreigner Charles too is not 100% fit ahead of the I-League. Khalid is trying to create a new combination of Willis Plaza and Charles in forward and his whole focus was on them today.
On the other hand the team management has decided that they will not train at the Barasat Stadium, as it has a Astro-turf. The artificial turf was the main reason for Mitchell’s injury yesterday. From now on they will train at the Howrah Municipal Stadium which has a normal turf of grass.
Who will tell these these moronic and myopic officials? BTW, did any one follow his performance with CCFC last season? He was very decent during his time with MB (2012-2014) but I guess his performance tailed off after that.

seems like you were right. EB to play 3 friendlies with ISL teams instead of going to Assam
