According to Ganashakti, EB had to move out of VYBK as they weren't allowed to rent the stadium under the name Quess East Bengal or use QEB anywhere other than the jersey. QEB is a corporate side that needs to pay much more than EB. So, they can't use QEB name if they want discount. At the same time, since the registered club name under AIFF is QEB, the club can't rent VYBK for I League under the East Bengal Club name. So this change of venue.
Sad to see a Bangladeshi club atk which is a corporate club gets to play in SLS but EB is denied for having a corporate sponsor, is this how mamta promotes football in Bengal ?
Quess doesnt want to pay the stadium rent which ATK pays, simple as that. EB will get a full house in Kalyani, the natural turf there is as good if not better than YBK with superior drainage. The overall ground size is also at par with YBK and Kalyani has now floodlights. Playing a physical team like RKFC on a narrow EB ground would completely negate any home match advantages. East Bengal's strengths are the side backs and the wing halfs, a narrow ground doesnt help us against a tough tackling physical team.
What a weird reasoning. All these years, Mohuna Bagan and East Bengal were playing as Mcdowells and Kingfisher- that time Salt lake Stadium management had no problem. Nobody asked them that remove Kingfisher corporate from your jersey ??
@munna219777 No, they didn't ask to remove Quess from jersey. They asked the team to stop branding as QEB inside stadium and also to book the venue as East Bengal Club and not Quess East Bengal FC if they want discount.
