I am the first one to admit that my club has been taken over by thugs and scoundrels masquerading as officials. The management is as shoddy as it gets
But definitely not the supporters ( barring some black sheep who are there in every club)
It is because of these supporters--passionate, militant maybe--that the club has been able to complete 100 years of its existence. It is because of the protest of these supporters that Quess was brought in as an investor and the process of corporatisation was begun in the Maidan. The other club did not show any such initiative. The Quess chapter ended ingloriously not because of Nitu this time but because of Quess themselves; after a great maiden year, they decided not to invest in football and made all the wrong footballing decisions. Of course, guys like Nitu and Kalyan were smarting because they were being sidelined and tried to embarrass Quess, but this time the fault lies primarily with the Quess management.
I would rather have my club playing in 5th, 6th division, even para(locality) football rather than it becoming non-existent or as its officials say euphemistically, refashion itself as a "new avatar"
The report cited above is from Sangbad Pratidin which is run by the owners of erstwhile MB and Dulal De has for some time been trying his best to show East Bengal in a negative light. Let the police investigate, we shall know who the guilty parties are, the supporters of EB or some people who are getting a wee bit hot under the collar at their rival's prospects of joining the ISL!
Dulal Dey and Pratidin are run by ATKMB's minority owners. Anyone expecting them make true news about East Bengal doesn't know how Kolkata media and football works. The guys at Grey Mind got tremendous flak and are now trying to rectify their errors. And about East Bengal playing ISL or not, we, the supporters won't accept a merger with a rival club unlike MB. Will rather prefer playing in second division as painful as it feels rather than disbanding te club. It's a very simple choice.
Going by the recent developments it does not look like EB are going to play in the ISL . It's actually a shame , with no spectator convenience in mind they could've easily planned a season with 11 clubs .
Couple of money minded people who runs the EB club have literally brought the club to its knees, embarrassed & humiliated its supporters in the centenary year, yet the supporters instead of questioning them, their intent/integrity, is as usual obsessed with Bagan!
No wonder Nitu & Co. is ruling the roost & would continue doing so,since they know the supporters like the club doesn't have any roots! Made in China types - won't last long!
@thebeautifulgame never meant to rub it on you fans. I always say you guys deserve better. Nobody here is questioning EB or it's history. Their present state is so so bad. It's an embarrassment. That might be an understatement. Indian football does not have to look up to EB now. A egoistic self centered management toying with its own players and fans. No thank you !!
You guys should not be waiting for new investor. You guys need to get rid of nitu

Said by someone who is posting (and has been posting) in the East Bengal thread!
Goes a long way to show the supporters of which club are obsessed with which club
