A-league club Brisbane Roar centre back Scott Neville is in talks with the club and an ATK target for last season, former Celtic striker Anthony Stokes's name is also being linked with the club.
I am not entirely comfortable with the practice of foreign coaches bringing in players from their own countries or from the leagues where they have coached previously. No doubt the quality of the players might be good, and the coach being acquainted with his playing style is an extra advantage. However, this player has to play in a new country with a new set of players, and one cannot be always sure that his performance would be of the same standard. As we had seen in the case of Morgan, out of the players that he had brought from Australia, not all set the stage on fire here. Tolgay was very good, Barisic was so-so, while the others like Alan Gow and Chris Payne were pathetic.
I have seen Anthony Stokes' videos: no doubting his class, but I am not sure how his recent form is.
Club needs to provide proper pre-season, training facilities, adequate gap between the games, salary at time, accomplished coaching staff to extract maximum out of good foreign players from developed nations.
Just blaming Footballers for poor performance is one side of the story.
Once you mess up all these factors, only Random Africans are able to perform out of sheer talent and physicality as they have faced this anarchy since childhood in their country while growing up as a footballer.
@thebeautifulgame Stokes was actually good for Persepolis last season, so probably has somewhat form. However, you missed the biggest names of the 'home country' thing- Marcos and Crespi. Possibly the worst season for EB since de Rider days.

He was rather impressive in the 2018-2019 season, when he played for another Iranian club, Tractor, and notched up 11 goals in 23 appearances.
