He should come back to I-league. By the way, he got India Passport or Nigeria? It will be difficult for him to break into I-League club as a Foreigner. As indian, he still has a chance.
Better than Dadze and other ISL guys? Until we actually see his performances (which stat wise, have been rubbish) over the last 3 seasons, I won't hold my breath.
OMG, this fucking shit again. Still doubt you watch the Indonesian or Thai leagues and also why would you say it looks better on TV but then compare it to the Thai or Indonesian leagues when you probably have never seen either live in stadium?
Also, pretty much the same level of some matches below I-League quality? Let me guess, matches in the Goa Pro League are better than ISL? Matches in the Goan 3rd Division Village league are better?
For gods sake, we have had foreigners from the I-League play in the ISL and other than Dudu (who has not done anything lately), Luciano Sabrosa (somewhat), and Sony Norde (can be inconsistent at times) they have not done well at all. These foreigners are a lot better than the average to above average foreigner in the I-League. Ya, you can pick out the occasional foreigner from the I-League who is just as good but we are talking about over 50 players of the same quality in the ISL!
And Atletico de Kolkata can't beat Persib Bandung? I have no doubt they can kick their ass. As for the Thai Premier League champions, well, Buriram United are in a totally different league. They have a guy who went from barely even scoring a single goal a season in the Brazilian Serie A to scoring 29 in 29 in Thailand! Two strikers with 46 goals between them. They have money to compete at a AFC Champions League level, beating a Korean and Chinese team recently. They have a 13 point lead over 2nd and 23 over 3rd.
But ya, ATK over a season could finish 4th or 5th. Thailand does a good job with developing players recently. They are not up there among Japan, Australia, South Korea etc but they are doing well.
Agree. I rank Thailand to get better before China in terms of national team because of that but China will be able to afford the better head coach and the CSL will be able to get the best foreigners and coaches over Thailand.
The confidence that comes from some of these Thai lads is amazing. Whenever I watch a CSL game you can tell there is a gulf of difference between the foreigners and the Chinese but in the Thai Premier League you can see a difference but you can also see the Thai players being able to compete.
Great article. And great fishing out job there. I always was curious about the decline of Thai football. It's good that they are rising again. SEA can do with some quality football.
There have to be some report somewhere about the state of Malaysian football as well ...
