Air India are still to be paid their three-month salary. And yet they have been playing with an unmistakable intensity. The Mumbai side will take on Shillong Lajong in their 14th round of the I-league at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex on Saturday.
“They are playing well and are combining nicely as a unit,” said Santosh Kashyap, Air India head coach. “They have been playing without pay for the third month now, but when it comes to football they have been delivering,” he added.
On the points table — AI is on 19, while Shillong Lajong stand at 16 — he said, “We don’t believe in looking back. We take each match as we play.”
Shillong coach Pradmyamun Reddy said, “They (Air India) are a good side despite the salary setbacks. It means these boys are extremely keen to deliver.”
Shillong had lost to defending champions Salgaocar in their away match in Margao. But Reddy is confident that his boys will play their best game to get maximum points.

I DONT GET IT! They are sponsored by Air India and yet they still fail to deliver for there football club. This is why the AIFF should just get rid of them regardless of there table position. They have quality but off the field they are fucking shit. Even 4th division clubs in the USA pay there players every week. Also if your wondering where the players go if we force relegate Air India then we just action the players off to the I-League teams. Simple.
Air India is ruining football and we need to take action.
That is no excuse! <!-- s:angry-screaming: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/angry/screaming.gif" alt=":angry-screaming:" title="Screaming" /><!-- s:angry-screaming: --> Air India is one of the many reasons India lost its Asian Champions League spot and currently are using there youth because they have no money to buy players. They have none. Also nice fucking personal attack there. Oh I try to sound like an expert hu. No I am not an expert but you don't need to be one to see that Air India, HAL, and Chirag (all though Chirag is looking like they are getting better) are failures to the league and if we want to see growth in domestic football in India the AIFF would be wise to take action.
Do you think that Major League Soccer wanted to get rid of the Tampa Bay Mutiny which was the first club to start an Academy. No but they did it because they knew that if they kept them than MLS and US Soccer would face a financial implosion.
A lazy Air India and Domestic Indian Football don't add up. We all know it.
in this league you need to give these players a career option in football and not for them to show their skills for free...
whatever may be the pay high or low, this is the bread and butter of those players and if the club dont response in nicer way for their brisk work...i just hope all these players make a winter move for any clubs who could afford to pay them...
these works are the thing which makes air india a unprofessional club
i feel that there should not be any relegation this season with both air india and hal being forced relegation whatever may their position be
The mother organization is under massive debts, even their airplane people are not getting paid properly..kudos to the players for still performing.
Ya I heard about that. The only good that is coming from this is that I was able to short sell Air India in my stock market game in school and it worked so well.
I still hope though they move. I predict a disbandment coming after this season. 2 actually. HAL, Chirag, or Air India will disband at the end of the season for the following reasons,
HAL: They are not interested in football and are failing financially and getting relegated will kill the owners that they won't want to get relegated and face the costs to get HAL to other tournaments.
Chirag: Well I don't think they will disband yet but I think after this season they will move to Kolkata and then after next season they will disband because of lack of support (5 teams cannot live in one city, specially sense 2 teams count as 90% of the football fans.
Air India: The company is doing so bad and will need to cut some "unnecessary costs" so football will be one of them. They don't have money and they won't be able to afford another season. It will be a Fransa-Pax type season again unless they don't stop after this season.
This is also why I want AIFF to put the league on hiatus and reorganize the league from top to bottom. So many teams are not financially good and if we want a franchise league that needs to change.

Venky's nutritional partner of Air India.
Chicken made by Venky's (full of growth hormones) cannot be called nutritional in any sense.
:P
