India should have played last time, just to get more match practice against bigger teams. Even if we don't qualify through this qualifiers we should play in it.

    Agree.

But now lets look at this.

Nehru Cup is in the middle of August while the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers are on 1st September and 5th September. Plus we have the FIFA International Date on 15 August.

I think we should just put the under-23 team in the Nehru Cup. They need exposer and the Nehru Cup would be perfect, they would also be coming off U22 Qualifiers so they would have already played with each other.

As for the senior team we should hold a camp in August from August 10th to August 25th. Have the 1 friendly and have it between a good African side (If we can the AIFF should try talking to the South African Association about the South Africa vs India match) then after that cut the 30-man squad to 23 and play in the 2 Qualifier matches.

Also there are FIFA dates from June 1st to June 5th then June 8th to June 12th so take advantage of those dates. Euro 2012 will be taking place during the June 8th to June 12th days so why not have a friendly against a European team that is not in Euro 2012. They will need practice to.

India had already qualified through AFC Challenge Cup last time so they were dropped from the qualifiers. This time around they can choose between qualifiers or challenge cup
  • if we get an easy group, can't we qualify as 2nd team?

The chances of us getting a good group is slim, we are a very low seeded team.

the only good news for us is that we can select one of these two paths- regular qualifiers or challenge cup...with dpr korea being the likely winner of 2012 edition and we wont be coached by savio we will be having brisk chance of making it to main tournament through challenge cup but why should we lose our chance to get some good fifa points in regular round as well if we get any...

    Well there is the problem...

We can just see where we are in 2013 and if we feel like we are not good enough for the qualifiers then we go to the AFC Challenge Cup but then you got the problem that we have to make that decision THIS YEAR as the Asian Cup Qualifiers begin in September and knowing India, we will be the lowest seed.

    Hmmm, tough
