You think Syria is a weak team ?? They are very strong unfortunately they were banned from WCQ 2014 for fielding ineligible player.

Did nt we just beat them in Nehru Cup and later Maldives beat them

That must be their B or C team and thank god for that dirty pitch which made it much easier for us to beat them.

    @samiam

dont matter if it was official or not, eveeryone knows its not full strength and also the ground conditions....Tell me when was the last time we got a decent result when ground conditions were perfect?

AFC Challenge cup win - in worst muddy grounds
UAE 2-2 draw -  in swimming pool
Nehru Cup 2012 win against Syria  and Cameroon - In water soaked ground

its nice to take pride with this but the problem is that later ppeople start thinking highly of the team which it is not, when they play teams in decent conditions we get to know the reality
  • So what your saying that for our next home match we should soak it in water and play Spain and WIN!!!

Syria are indeed solid. Look at their results during some serious competitions in last few years.

-2011 Asian Cup in Qatar (Jan 2011)
    Syria 2-1 Saudi Arabia
    Syria 1-2 Japan
    Syria 1-2 Jordan

    -World Cup qualifier (July 2011)
    Syria 2-1 Tajikistan
    Tajikistan 0-4 Syria
(but later Syria got disqualified for fielding an ineligible player)

-2012 West Asia Championship in Kuwait (December 2012)
    -Group Round
    Syria 1-1 Iraq
    Syria 2-1 Jordan
    -Semifinal
    Syria 3-2 Bahrain
    -Final
    Syria 1-0 Iraq

and they won the WAFF championship first time ever.

  • we should rather think and prepare for AFC Asia Cup 2019. We were over-confident this time. we were already thinking about defeating Phillipines and winning AFC Challenge Cup but we never thought about Myanmar. Remember we recently lost to Singapore, Palestine. We used to defeat such teams easily under Houghton, Bhutia. We should select our best XI and I hope AIFF arrange friendlies regularly for us. our Lakshya should be Asia Cup 2019.
