NPL is a well intentioned league but played on muddy pitches by players who aren't good enough to earn a living on Assam teams or Meghalaya teams, let alone on a CFL 1st or 2nd division team.<div><br></div><div>The Karnataka team has players from all over the country ; one of the scorers was a Mizo player , Ngurilal Hmar, who has consistently been scoring goals fro MEG at tournaments like EK Nayanar & BDFA Super Division. </div><div>MEG is good enough to compete in 2nd Division and some smaller National tournaments like Durnad Cup etc.</div><div><br></div><div>NPL teams aren't good enough to beat I-League U-20 teams !</div><div>I have seen 2 games and I can say this with a lot of conviction</div><div><br></div><div>Santosh trophy is a farce anyways, with so many PSU players taking part , why not just make it a PSU tournament !!</div>

<br><div><br></div><div>Well again we can never expect to much from NPL. Even I admit that I overrated it but in around 3-5 years the NPL players and league will be one of the best in India. CFL and GPL needs a change in format. Karnataka needs a real state league, same with Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Kerala and Punjab. </div><div><br></div><div>As for the Santosh Trophy, I agree. Right now again promotion/relegation can not happen because all of the 2nd Division teams are either far from quality, far from professional or are PSUs. Honestly I would like to see Air India FC and ONGC FC just separate and form a PSU League. Leave the top-tier of Indian football to the real teams. It can bring in some very nice youth players.</div>
