He would not get a game as well. Sporting Portugal "B" team is dominating in the 2nd Division, considering they are a reserve team.

Too be honest making it big early is better than what we are expecting him to be at when he peaks at 22-25..that is too late for Europe

That is perfect for Europe. Take it from a guy who has seen many American players move across the pond into Europe and failed. Jozy Altidore was 18 when he signed for Villarreal from New York Red Bulls. Before he left he had scored 15 goals in 37 games in MLS. He was tipped to be the next star and to shine bright for the US.

Sadly it went downhill. He failed to make it in the first-team and went out on loan to the 2nd Division of Spain where he failed (Age 19). Then he spent the 2009-10 season in the Premier League (age 19-20) where he flopped again, scoring 1 goal in 28 matches and then he went to Turkey when he was 21. Scoring only 1 goal in 12 games.

Finally he stopped, looked at himself. Left Villarreal and joined the Dutch league with AZ Alkmaar. He was 21 when he signed for AZ. Since then he has played 53 games, scoring 30 goals for the club. He is 23 now.

I can give you many more examples of this as well. Freddy Adu is probably the saddest one. Made his MLS debut at the age of 14. Went to Europe at age 18 with Benfica in Portugal and the next 4 years become a nightmare. In a total of 4 years at Benfica he only made 11 caps scoring twice. He also went on loan 4 times. All of them were failures.

Finally when he was 22 he realized that it was not working in Europe and he decided to come back to MLS. Luckily he signed for one of the bad teams and is doing okay now (attitude is shite).

But the point is that for most players going to Europe and aiming big at the ages of 22 or younger it does not turn out so well. I would rather Fernandes continue to develop in easier leagues first before going to Europe.

Europe is not the be all or end all.
