    6 points will not be enough to qualify?

    Bibiano's boys have consistently done well at Asian level in U17 category ... Though after graduation to U19 level, Floyd Miranda used to mess up big time

    I feel at this point our youngsters should look for opportunities abroad in top Asian countries even if its second division in Korea, Japan, Australia, Thailand or UAE. Now that even playing opportunities are restricted with Arrows. Even though one Arrows team is not enough. The agents in Indian football circuit are ruining these young lads promising them more money and holding them back in India. We need more knowledgeable agents as much as coaches. These agents are not willing to bet on their talents and take a money cut for an eventual gain in the future. If you go out at the age of Sunil, Jhingan no good news awaits, It is very very tough. They will struggle and no team will wait on 25+ year old to take a year to adapt to their intensity in professional football. Gurpreet got lucky to get so much adaptation time. At this age they should go at least to have any chance or whatsoever. Folks like Siva should go to lower division European leagues and improve the intensity and physique. ISL is getting better, but nowhere close to other Asian leagues

    Ofcourse a foreign stint would be ideal but a not so bad second option can be the proposed youth league. At this age the players need constant playing time and with decent coaching they will be ready for senior duties.

    A local youth league is nothing compared to foreign exposure and the chance to get a contract abroad

    Agree. It’s better than 20 players getting selected for arrows and rest of the fringe players getting lost though.

    AIFF President, Secretary General meet India Under-17 boys in Saudi Arabia

    The duo took the time to get acquainted with each and every member of the squad, before the president informed them of his plans for the team in the coming years, where as per a new Memorandum of Understanding between the AIFF and the Saudi Arabia Football Federation, the U17s will play two 3-nation tournaments a year as they progress through the age groups.

    “We are happy to inform all of you that we came here to Saudi Arabia to sign an MoU with the SAFF, as per which you boys will get to play more international matches every year for the next four years,” said Mr. Chaubey.

    “We believe that until and unless you play more games, you will not get to improve as much. You boys are now at the U-17 stage. As and when you progress through the age groups, you will keep playing three-nation tournaments with countries like Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and so on. It is when you play these teams across different age groups that you win some, you draw some and you lose some, and then you can reflect on the areas you can get better,” he said.

    “We have seen that India can compete with the best in Asia at the age group levels, but when the same players go to senior football, they struggle. We want to bridge that gap. If you boys keep playing some of these series with around 10-12 matches every year, that will only help you improve. sure, you may make mistakes, but it is our hope that you will learn from them, and when it comes to the more important matches, you all will take to the field as much improved footballers,” said Mr. Chaubey.

    The President also urged the players to envision a future where Indian players frequently go to foreign clubs to play football.

    “We want you to be able to go ahead and play for foreign clubs in the future. You can play at least 3-4 years there, and come back and play for the National Team a much improved player,” he said. “If there are multiple of you doing this, the quality of the national team will automatically improve.”

    @giridharan, @kartik91, @Ronny: Chaubey-ji agree with you! ;)

    Well then these players have to avoid falling into the ISL trap

    If they play well at these tournaments and are able to replicate similiar performances at U-19 Championships...High probability they might get noticed by some scouts as well...
    Then its upto these kids whether they fall into lure of ISL trap or go and play abroad and improve their footballing skills...
