Sumit Sharma header fetches India full points in SAFF U17 Championship opener against Bangladesh
Bangladesh 0 lost to India 1 (Brahmacharimayum Sumit Sharma 90+1')
THIMPHU, BHUTAN: Defending champions India made a winning start to their SAFF U17 Championship campaign as they defeated Bangladesh by a solitary goal in a Group A match at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, on Friday, September 20, 2024.
Watched this match for 60 mins and I can tell that the rot has started to build in U-17 team too. Back passes after back passes, aimless long balls, poor decision making, bad finishing and so much more.
Man we were atleast half decent at this level earlier. But after watching this match I don't know what is our future. Can't believe this is best players and coach we can get.
Is technical committee watching these matches or are they happy with daru and biryani in useless AGM meetings
Working with senior/reserve players and with U-14 & U-17 players is altogether is a different ball game.. I'm not sure if our coach Ishfaq Ahmed has ever worked with youth players.
Getting things done in junior level is pretty much touch that too with teams like India where players lacks motivation to succeed at higher level.
We can't decide by 1 game.. but I completely agree with @ashindia , this U-17 team looks bad.. most of them are back/diagonal passes, hardly any support in final third, our fwd not threatening & no long rangers.. and our early batches looks way better..
we use to qualify to U-17 Asian cup regularly and with this set of players & coaches, I don't think we will qualify for finals.. slowly U-17 batches will turn like U-20 batches & our Indian football will die..
But I'll be more than happy if this team proves me wrong...
I took a peek at the Bhutan vs Sri Lanka match yesterday in the U-17 SAFF Championship (I know, I need more hobbies), and the live chat on the YouTube broadcast was full of Bhutanese fans asking why Chencho wasn't playing.
They won 5-1. Bhutan plays some nice stuff by keeping the ball on the floor and slicing their opponents with short, incisive passes, which often works against crap teams.

isfaq is the genius coach of our nation. i think he is the one serving his biriyani in AGM meetings. seems to be working
Giants of world football Bangladesh, against whom India lost in SAFF Championship was thrashed by Syria 4-0 in U-20 Qualifiers.
This world class team Bangladesh drew with another top team - Guam today. Cant wait to see surprises from Ranjan Chowdhari in coming weeks
Have no hopes of Ranjan Chowdhari based on little he has shown so far. We have regressed a lot in this regime. On the surface all the controversies are less. But as a footballing entity we have been going down severely under Kalyan's regime.

Wait until idiots in AIFF announce him as coach for upcoming I-League Arrows project
