the pitch condition was poor (guess monsoon played its part)...lots of players were struggling with simple ball control....the big 2 really need to get a dedicated practice venue (salgaocar has a tie up with BITS goa, wherein they have upgraded the field & gym and use it for practice, BITS gets a quality pitch free of cost to host college matches. Its an excellent and practical , low cost model especially as some of the schools /colleges in Kolktata have large fields and are in the city), especially as they seem keen to upgrade Maidan into atleast I-league standards if not AFC levels.
