This is so short-term and small minded thinking. I mean, I like it, how we want to prepare for the AFC U19 Championship qualifiers and maybe field this side in the I-League and stuff but man, what about everything else. Maybe I am crazy but to me, a development plan would involve plans around academies or a proper development league than we have right now. Something that would actually develop Indian football but as usual the AIFF can't think forward.
Exactly. I mean what hell is this technical committee thinking. The emphasis should be on grooming larger number of players, no point in spending 20-30 crores for 3-4 years on just 30-35 players.
They have recommended Academy with support from local FA and Government in every state and that unfortunately will never happen.
A proper youth league is much more important. They may invite staff nations and some African or Asian nations national age group team to participate in that ( countries without a proper youth league may be interested). That will serve many purposes Regular competitive matches Less spending. We can divert those funds for training facilities, coach education, nutrition, physio. International flair with national teams in it.
When AIFF will understand that a proper structured Youth League is inevitable to grow as a footballing nation. If the young player don't get the play time how they will improve. At least 3 age group (U-12, U-16, U-19) league needed for the betterment of the young footballer. What AIFF is doing with this WC batch is a short term solution. AIFF needs to think in a broader way. Not only AIFF the clubs also need to come forward to make the things happen.
