INDIAN FOOTBALL: AIFF TO RELEASE CONTRACTUAL DETAILS OF PLAYERS IN SEPTEMBER
In a move to ensure transparency, all the player contract details will be released by the Indian FA…
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) are to release the contractual details of every player plying their trade in the I-League, Second Division and the Indian Super League (ISL) in the month of September.
The idea is to ensure that there is clarity with regards to the length of the contract after the recent case involving Abinash Ruidas where East Bengal claimed that the winger was contracted for another year as opposed to what the player’s camp suggested.
“Yes, we will release the details soon. Every club has to send the contract and register with us within two weeks of signing the contract. The idea is to ensure that the club, player, state association and the federation have the same contract,” informed Kushal Das, the AIFF general secretary to Goal.
This would also ensure that the having a mere token in the absence of a valid contract with the player which isn’t registered wouldn’t hold any standing. So if any club wants to approach a player, they can check our website and get the details of how long his contract is with the current club and what his salary is This will make the transfer process much more smoother,” he added.
Even before the ISL draft last month, Minerva FC owner Ranjit Bajaj tweeted that goalkeepers Ravi Kumar and Arnab Das Sharma had valid contracts with his club as NorthEast United FC and Delhi Dynamos picked the said players in the draft. The issue is still pending with the AIFF Players Status Committee.
